Nearly 1 in 3 first-quarter home sales a foreclosure: report

NEW YORK (Reuters) – Nearly one out of every three U.S. home sales in the first quarter was a foreclosure property as steep price discounts boosted demand for distressed real estate, RealtyTrac said in a new report on Wednesday.

Foreclosure homes accounted for 31 percent of all residential sales in the first quarter of 2010, with the average sales price of properties that sold while in some stage of foreclosure nearly 27 percent below homes that were not in the process, Irvine, California-based RealtyTrac said. …Read More

PRESCOTT VALLEY – Jan Dean, who has lived on Starlight Drive for 20 years, opposes a proposal to form a sewer district.

“I have a septic tank, and it has never given me any trouble,” Dean said. “I grew up with a septic tank way back in (Wayland) Massachusetts.”

Bald Eagle set free in Prescott Arizona

Prescott Arizona has a new bald eagle in town, although it remains to be seen how long he’ll stick around.

The Arizona Game and Fish Department decided to release a rehabilitated bald eagle at Watson Lake in Prescott Monday because the site has all the right ingredients – it’s not far from where he was born, its water attracts plenty of prey, it offers good perching, it had an elevated spot for the release that’s easy to reach, and it’s not over 100 degrees like it is in Phoenix right now.
