Saturday is all for the dogs with daytime events in PV By HEIDI DAHMS FOSTERSpecial to the CourierPet lovers will find plenty of fun and activities at the Animal Razzle at Tim’s Toyota Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. The free daytime events are a prelude to the Zoo Dazzle fundraiser for the Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary in the evening. Inside Tim’s Toyota Center, bring your dogs and participate in Canine Musical Chairs, pet talent and costume contests and agility. Registration for contests takes place from 9-10 a.m. From 9:30-10 a.m., Dr. Kenneth Skinner from Prescott Animal Hospital will talk about treating exotic zoo animals. At 10:30 a.m., trot out your dog decked out in his best finery for the pet costume contest. Canine Musical Chairs takes place at 11:30 a.m., and the pet talent contest takes the stage at 12:30 p.m. Then enjoy some agility – dog obstacle courses – at 1:30 p.m. Outside, in front of the center, enjoy a Rally Obedience demonstration from 9-9:30 a.m. Heat 1 of the Dachshund races will begin at 10 a.m., and Heat 2 will take place at 11 a.m. Prescott Valley police K-9s will show their stuff before the Dachsie race finals at 1 p.m. In between events, pet lovers can enjoy a plethora of vendors and organizations inside the center – including canine attire, dog rescue groups, Olsen’s Grain, Petco, Horses with H.E.A.R.T. and many more. Animal Razzle events are all free to the public. Major sponsors are Pet Depot Barkery, Kennel Kamp Village, Chino Valley Animal Hospital and Cable One. In the evening, the benefit Zoo Dazzle includes dinner, spirits, entertainment, animal encounters, a live auction, and the raffle of a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Parade participants who want to be judged must sign up by 5 p.m. today, she said.

The categories are church, youth, civic-nonprofit, commercial units, custom class cars and marching guards.

Twenty finalists qualified for the Prescott Valley Idol competition Friday night, Uhl said. They have competed in open-mic nights. Contestants who finish in first to third place will receive trophies, and the winner will take home a $50 cash prize, she said. All finalists will receive gift certificates from Antelope Lanes and free recording time at Studio U, which will open soon in the Entertainment District.

• 11 a.m.: Tractor show and pull by Mile High Tractor and Engine Club at town center

• 1 p.m.: Horse racing begins at Yavapai Downs at Yavapai County Fairgrounds
